The best writing system is not the most sophisticated one. It is the one that makes returning to the page feel easy.

My approach has three stages: capture, shape, and publish. Each stage asks for a different kind of attention.

Capture without judgment

I save observations before deciding whether they are important. A useful capture can be a sentence, a photograph, a question, or a detail from a conversation. At this stage, speed matters more than structure.

Shape around one idea

When a note continues to feel interesting, I ask what the piece is really about. One clear idea is usually stronger than five loosely connected ones. I make a short outline, choose only the details that support it, and write a rough draft quickly.

Edit for the reader

Editing is where a private note becomes a public story. I remove repetition, make the opening more direct, and check whether each section earns the reader’s attention. Then I read it aloud; awkward language is much easier to hear than to see.

The final step is to publish before endless polishing removes the energy that made the idea worth writing in the first place.
